Y you're still the one
man, i'm aching all over right now. after not working for 2 weeks plus, yesterday i went to work and it's for a total full 12hours. i'm totally dead right now. i slept like a log and i just woke up at 3ish. but i'm still sleepy.. how? and i'm lazy to go out, even though i planned to catch a movie today. nevermind, i'll stay at home and finish up some stuffs and watch DVDs.
anyhows, work yesterday was uber tiring. slept for less than 5 hours on the previous night, and i woke up at 8am to prepare to meet nnp at 10am before going to work together. went to change before having our early lunch in the canteen with the rest. all of us were updating each other about CNY and stuffs. there were xia yun, ge jing, lu hua, samantha, nnp and i. then at 11am, we went upstairs to report for work. samsi gave the briefing, and briefed to us about the salmon yu sheng stuffs. yesterday's function was some lunar chinese new year celebration for singapore food manufature pte ltd, and it's just some normal chinese lunch except that their first course is the salmon yu sheng.
yesterday was the 7th day of CNY, so in other words its the "Ren Ri". and on this day, we normally will toss "yu sheng" together. anyways, samsi did the staffing, and i was put to partner miza and we took care of the VIP tables. there were 4 VIP tables today. lulu and ge jing took the other 2. after which, we did some miscelleneous stuffs and at 12pm, guests started streaming in. guess who are the emcees? liu qian yi and lin mei jiao, the 2 mediacorps artists. haha, liu qian yi was my dad's idol.
when the lunch began, the "yu sheng" was such a hassle. we had to stand at the table and start adding all the different ingredients into the platter, before they toss. there were the lime, pepper, salmon, oil, plum sauce and crackers. by right, we were supposed to say some nice words to the guests while adding each items, but because it was too noisy, so we did not. phew, there were so much to memorise alright! my hands were shaking even. lol. well, the steps are actually quite simple. first, we had to squeeze the lime (there were 4), 2 on the platter and 2 on the salmon, using the lime squeezer. then add the 4 packets of seasonings and pepper. then mix the salmon and add them into the platter. then pour oil and plum sauce over it before adding the crackers. after which, the "yu sheng" is ready for tossing.
after that course, the rest were like any other normal courses already. miza was the runner, and i helped her abit of the running too. lunch ended at 3pm, and we began turning over for that night's dinner. jasmine in-charge. after clearing all the stewarding items, jasmine got me to go take chair covers at lorong 22. after that, we continued to do some shits. mark got me to go to the foyer to crump some cloths, and that was when i saw him. so pathetic lah, because i was kneeling on the floor when he walked past. well, what a nice and neat new hair style he has. sighs*
riight, at 6pm, ramesh gave the briefing for the dinner which was rather similar to the afternoon's one. i really must say that ramesh is much more organised than samsi, as he gave demostration to the "yu sheng" which samsi did not give any. after the briefing and staffing, all the morning staffs were released for dinner break till 7pm. FINALLY we can eat! i'm starving already man. ate together with nancy and nnp. oh, nancy worked at 2pm. and i've not seen her for so long, and we did some catching up. (:
went back to the ballroom at 7pm, and the guests were already here. this CNY celebration was for scorpio east holdings, and again, there's many artists around. i've got the 93.3FM deejay, zhou chong qing, sitting at my table. lol. my partner was a TCC china guy, qing xu. omg, he's very obedient and hardworking, but still, he makes my blood boils at times. anyhows, there were some opening perfomance on stage till 8pm, before we're about to have our first course presentation.
first course was the "yu sheng", and this time is slightly different from afternoon's. while we did all the adding of ingredients at the tables, the guests were watching and staring! my hands were shaking. then, i don't know who was in-charge of putting the lime squeezer on the susan, but my table don't have!!! i ended up had to use our serving gears (fork and spoon) to squeeze it. but, no juice came out. very hard okay. the guests were staring at me loh. zhou chong qing also. wah lao! okay nevermind, the rest were still okay, tho my hands were still shaking. lol. after which, they tossed their "yu sheng" and dinner resumed as per normal.
my partner don't know much about the runner job, so i had to tell him when and what to do. for that, each time he finishes one thing that i told him to do, he'll stand at the side station and wait for me to tell him what to do next. just like a ball waiting to be kicked. grr! we were one of the slowest man. when i asked him to go to the back to take plates, he take ages to come back!! argh. then when i asked him to check drinks while i portioned the food, i see so many empty glasses, until steven came and ask me why our beverages all empty. in the end, i went to check myself. tiring you know. :/ oh, zhou chong qing has a really disgusting hairstyle and laughter, BUT he's very polite to us. haha!
then all those i normally will crap around with are at the south room. i've only xiao ming at the north room to crap with me. lu hua, nnp and nancy were all at the south. zhi ling was working in the grand salon with dalland last night, but i don't know how he can come all the way from there to help me out many times. he... ignts. okay, nevermind. then he went around passing us the comments cards to hand to guests. after so long, today i hear him calling my name at a better tone. not any other tone, but a better and normal tone. however, i still feel weird hearing him call my name, because he used to call me
finally dinner ended at 11pm. we gathered at the back. i went to the backlane slightly later, as i was at the bar helping a guest write down some red wine name on a piece of paper. then when i went in, he asked me what time i worked, as the morning and night staffs were separate one 2 sides. then ramesh selected the stay back staffs, and i was too tired to volunteer to stay till 12mn, so nnp and i did not OT. alot others too. thus, we were signed out at 11pm loh.
nancy, nnp and i wanted to go for supper outside before taking nightriders home. in the end, nancy said she's tired and took the train home, whereas nnp and i went on our own. we ate at makansutra outside DXO. the food there were darn expensive lah! argh. zhi ling came to look for us after work. then we chit chat till 1ish before taking our separate nightriders home. i got home at 2am, and talked on the phone with lu hua before i turned in at 3ish. lu hua is really a good friend. i talked to him about everything, and don't worry, your secret is safe with me and i hope mine's too. (:
and now, i wanna go rot and study a lil WT before i... rot somemore. oh, our class bai nian outing was cancelled due to some reasons. i'm supposed to have something on, but it was cancelled too, then i've got no time to inform lye hong they all, so yay, all's cancelled and i'm staying at home to rest today. laters~
